Buying the right motherboard is one of the most important steps of PC building that numerous people skimp out on. And with the release of new Ryzen 3000 CPUs, it is important to choose a good motherboard that has the essential features and a good VRM. That’s why we have reviewed the best B450 motherboards for Ryzen 3000 CPUs.

VRMs, fan headers, memory compatibility, and wireless connectivity are some of the many important features that motherboards offer. Yet many people are not knowledgeable or just don’t take into account some of those features and just go straight for the cheapest option. You need to know what motherboard you’re buying and why you’re buying it. Therefore, the B450 motherboards below should help you make the right choice for your Ryzen 3000 CPU.

  1. MSI B450 Tomahawk

MSI Arsenal Gaming AMD Ryzen 1st and 2nd Gen AM4 M.2 USB 3 DDR4 DVI HDMI Crossfire ATX Motherboard (B450 Tomahawk)
The Tomahawk is one of the most popular B450 mobos out there. It’s hard to go wrong with it. Its good VRM, specs, and price make this motherboard perfect for any Ryzen 3600, 3600X, or a 3700X PC build.

You get 4 DIMM slots, plenty of PCI-E ports, 6 USB ports on the back, more fan headers than you’ll ever need, and a couple of RGB headers. The VRMs are even good enough for some basic overclocking with a Ryzen 5 and you’re not even paying a premium for this one.

For a motherboard that sits somewhere in the middle in terms of pricing, you get pretty much everything you’ll need. If you’re into extreme overclocking, then you may want to look into something that’s a bit more towards the high-end. But, for everyone else, this is one of the best B450 motherboards for Ryzen 3000 CPUs that you can get.

  1. AsRock B450M Steel Legend

ASRock B450M Steel Legend Socket AM4/ AMD Promontory B450/ DDR4/ Quad CrossFireX/ SATA3&USB3.1/ M.2/ A&GbE/MicroATX Motherboard
The Steel Legend is one of the best cheap B450 motherboards. While it costs well below $100, it offers a full RGB setup with everything that you might expect from a budget board and even more. This makes it great for a Ryzen 3600, 3600X, even a 3700X PC build.

You get plenty of USB 3.1 ports, RGB and fan headers, PCI-E x16 slots, 4 SATA ports, and even an M.2 ultra socket. Just do keep in mind that it shares the same lane with the SATA ports.

The VRMs are not the best out there. So, if you’re looking for Ryzen X variants and/or if you’re into overclocking, then consider spending a little more on at least a mid-range mobo.

  1. Gigabyte B450 Aorus Elite

GIGABYTE B450 AORUS Elite (AMD Ryzen AM4/ M.2 Thermal Guard/Hmdi/DVI/USB 3.1/DDR4/ATX/Motherboard)
The Gigabyte Aorus Elite is a good mid-range B450 motherboard. It offers everything that your average Ryzen user will need at a compelling price.

Relatively good VRMs, 3 system fan headers, plenty of USB ports, overall, it’s a good middle of the line choice that doesn’t ask for a lot of money. The lack of Wi-Fi may annoy some people. But, to be fair, this can be fixed rather easily with a USB adapter. Not a big deal. You can also check out the Aorus Pro Wi-Fi if having onboard Wi-Fi is a must.

So, when it comes to the best B450 motherboards for Ryzen 3000 CPUs, the Aorus Elite is worthier of a place in this list.

  1. AsRock B450M Pro4

ASRock MicroATX Motherboard (B450M PRO4)
This motherboard caters to those who are budget-oriented. And if you are on a budget, this is one of the best budget B450 motherboard for Ryzen 3000 CPUs.

This cheap B450 motherboard offers 4 DIMM slots, numerous fan headers, somewhat decent VRMs, numerous SATA plus M.2 slots, and more. If you’re on a budget, it’s hard to go wrong with it.

However, there is a catch. When you’re using the M.2-2 slot, you’re losing a whole SATA channel in exchange – meaning that you’re losing 2 of your SATA slots. But, hey, we can’t have everything without paying a little extra.

  1. Asus ROG Strix B450-I

ASUS ROG Strix B450-I Gaming Motherboard (Mini ITX) AMD Ryzen 2 AM4 DDR4 HDMI M.2 USB 3.1 Gen2 B450
The ROG Strix B450-I is a compact mobo that flirts with a high-end price tag and offers wireless goodies out of the box. To be more specific, both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are included with no need for adapters.

Despite the mid to high-end price tag, this option doesn’t offer a whole lot of connectors. Namely, the single PCI-E slot can be quite shocking for some. That’s a sacrifice that you often have to make with mini builds.

You can easily fit it into a small case with all of its RGB glory and high-quality components. It’s not for everyone. But, for those who like this sort of thing, this is definitely one of the best motherboards for Ryzen 3000 CPUs that you can get right now!

Asus ROG Strix B450-I Specs
Chipset B450
Form Mini ITX
Memory 2 DDR4 slots up to 3466MHz with OC and support for up to 34 gigs of memory
Graphics 1 HDMI port

  1. MSI B450M Pro-VDH Plus

MSI ProSeries AMD Ryzen 1st and 2ND Gen AM4 M.2 USB 3 DDR4 D-Sub DVI HDMI Micro-ATX Motherboard (B450M PRO-VDH Plus)
If you’re more into working and maybe playing a few games on the side, then consider the MSI B450M Pro-VDH Plus. It’s a solid motherboard from a reputable manufacturer.

It offers all the basic stuff that you may want for a budget setup. Plenty of support for memory, a PCI-E slot for a dedicated GPU, plenty of SATA ports, lots of USB ports, what else do you need?

This mobo has only two downsides that may or may not concern you depending on what you wanna do:

  1. Only 2 system fan headers
  2. VRM modules aren’t exactly the best out there

The first issue can be solved with a fan splitter. Something like those Arctic fans with PST support will do the job wonderfully. As for the whole VRM thing, if you don’t plan on overclocking then you’re good to go. But, if you do, consider spending a little bit more on your motherboard – just to be safe.

MSI B450M Pro-VDH Plus Specs
Chipset B450
Form Micro ATX
Memory 4 DDR4 slots up to 3466 MHz and up to 64 gigs
Graphics DVI-D, VGA, and HDMI

ASUS B450 AMD Ryzen 2 Micro ATX Gaming Motherboard AM4 DDR4 HDMI DVI VGA M.2 USB 3.1 Gen2 (Prime B450M-A/CSM)
The Asus Prime B450M-A isn’t the fanciest mobo that you’ll ever see and it doesn’t have to be. If you want to make a serious budget build without too much fluff, this is a great option.

You get your PCI-E slot, 6 SATA ports for your drives, 6 USB ports on the back, a couple of fan headers for effective cooling, and even an M.2 socket. If your case is up to the task, you can also get up to 6 USB ports on the front. Just do keep in mind that only 2 of them are USB 3.1.

Asus Prime B450M-A Specs

  1. MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC

MSI Performance Gaming AMD Ryzen 1st and 2nd Gen AM4 M.2 USB 3 DDR4 HDMI Display Port WiFi Crossfire ATX Motherboard (B450 Gaming PRO Carbon AC)
This beauty right here is one of the few boards out there that sacrifice little next to nothing. It competes directly with other high-end options and it definitely deserves a place as one of the best B450 motherboards for Ryzen 3000 CPUs. However, at this price point, you probably better of gatting an X470 or budget X570 motherboard.

It seems to be one of the few ATX motherboards that include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. If you’re not a fan of adapters, you’ll definitely like this one.

Furthermore, it offers everything that you may want as a gamer. Storage, good VRMs, numerous fan headers, plenty of USB ports, wireless connectivity, RGB, it has the whole package.

Some may argue that 4 SATA ports instead of 8 are a compromise. But, chances are that your average person isn’t going to use more than 4. Maybe not even 2.

MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC Specs
Chipset B450
Form ATX
Memory 4 DDR4 slots up to 3466MHz with OC and support for up to 64 gigs of memory
Graphics 1 HDMI port and 1 Display Port
PCI 1 PCI-E 3.0 x16, 1 PCI-E 2.0 x16, and 3 PCI-E 2.0 x1

  1. Asus Rog Strix B450-F

ASUS ROG Strix B450-F Gaming Motherboard (ATX) AMD Ryzen 2 AM4 DDR4 DP HDMI M.2 USB 3.1 Gen2 B450
The Rog Strix B450-F is a full ATX motherboard that provides everything you’d possibly want… Except for Wi-Fi. Which is not a problem as you can easily get a wifi adapter. But like the Pro Carbon, you are better off getting an X470 or X570 mothboard at this price point.

In addition to its beautiful RGB design, additional software, and high-quality components, you now also have a ton of USB ports, PCI-E slots, more RAM support, more SATA connectors, more of everything! Now, of course, due to all of that connectivity, the size is also much bigger.

You’ll need a MIDI tower for this one. It’s not going to fit on anything else. Though, when everything is said and done, the lack of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on a high-end mobo is kinda strange.

Asus Rog Strix B450-F Specs
Chipset B450
Form ATX
Memory 4 DDR4 slots up to 3200MHz with OC and support for up to 64 gigs of memory
Graphics 1 HDMI port and 1 Display Port
PCI 2 PCI-E 3.0 x16, 1 PCI-E 2.0 x16, and 3 PCI-E 2.0 x1
Storage 8 SATA connectors and 1 M.2 slot
USB 6 USB 3.1 ports at the back (4 gen 1 and a couple of gen 2) and 2 more USB 2.0 ports + 2 USB 3.1 and 4 USB 2.0 ports on the front
Headers 2 Aura RGB headers, 1 CPU fan, 1 CPU OPT, 3 system, and 1 pump
Network Intel I211-AT (Ethernet)

  1. MSI B450I Gaming Plus AC

MSI Performance Gaming AMD Ryzen 1st and 2nd Gen AM4 M.2 USB 3 DDR4 HDMI Display Port Mini-ITX Motherboard (B450I Gaming Plus AC)
If you want a high-end build in a compact package, but you don’t want to sacrifice too much, consider getting the B450I Gaming Plus AC. It offers high-quality components along with the basic ports that you’ll need and you can fit all of it into a smaller case.

One of its two issues is the lack of fan headers. But, still, if you’ve got a mini case, chances are that you can’t install a lot of fans anyway. And at the end of the day, you can always add an extra fan by using a fan splitter. Second is its hefty price tag which makes getting an X470 or X570 motherboard the better choice.

Last, but not least, while this mobo offers some of the best VRMs, extreme overclocking is still not recommended with it. Maybe check out a high-quality ATX mobo with a good heatsink and good case cooling just to be safe.

MSI B450I Gaming Plus AC Specs
Chipset B450
Form Mini ITX
Memory 2 DDR4 slots up to 3466MHz with OC and support for up to 32 gigs of memory
Graphics 1 HDMI port and 1 Display Port
PCI 1 PCI-E 3.0 x16
Storage 4 SATA connectors and 1 M.2 slot
USB 4 USB 3.1 ports and 2 USB 2.0 ports at the back + 2 USB 3.1 and 2 USB 2.0 ports on the front
